Before I go to sleep songs play in my head as if I have headphones on (there is no music playing externally). Why does this happen?

Why do I hear a loud motorcycle revving sound that gets louder and louder in my sleep? It happens during sleep paralysis, and the sound gets louder until I can snap myself out of paralysis and wake up. Is this an auditory disorder?
