Adolf Hitler's closest friend and confidant during his early years was August Kubizek. They met in Linz, Austria, in 1904 when they were both teenagers. Kubizek described their friendship in his memoir, "The Young Hitler I Knew," published in 1953. According to Kubizek, they shared a passion for music, and he was one of the few people Hitler trusted and confided in during their youth. However, their friendship eventually drifted apart as Hitler became more involved in politics and moved to Vienna. Throughout his later life, Hitler had several close associates and confidants, but none of them shared the same level of deep and lasting friendship as he had with Kubizek during their formative years.
