Yes, you can still be drunk after throwing up. Vomiting (throwing up) may remove some alcohol from your stomach, but it does not eliminate alcohol from your bloodstream. When you consume alcohol, it gets absorbed into your bloodstream through the walls of the stomach and the small intestine. Once it's in your bloodstream, it is distributed throughout your body, affecting your brain and other organs.

Throwing up may reduce the alcohol level in your stomach temporarily, but the alcohol that has already entered your bloodstream will continue to be processed by your liver and gradually metabolized until it is eliminated from your system. The rate of alcohol metabolism varies from person to person but generally occurs at about one standard drink per hour.

If you have consumed enough alcohol to make you intoxicated, throwing up will not instantly sober you up. It may help you feel somewhat better by reducing nausea, but the effects of alcohol on your cognitive and motor functions will persist until your body fully processes and eliminates the alcohol.

The only way to sober up is to wait for your body to metabolize the alcohol naturally over time. Remember that it's essential to stay hydrated and get plenty of rest if you have been drinking heavily to support your body during the recovery process. And, most importantly, never drink and drive or operate machinery while under the influence of alcohol. Always prioritize safety and responsible drinking practices.
